- HiPP Organic Seal
For more than 56 years, HiPP has been engaged in organic farming that respects natural cycles, protects the environment and is characterized by sustainability. This is guaranteed by the HiPP Organic Seal and the name Claus Hipp. With our high quality criteria, we went beyond legal requirements and set ourselves higher targets than the EU organic food seal. This is why the contents of each HiPP jar are subjected to more than 260 checks. The HiPP laboratory is one of the leading institutions of its kind in Europe.
Where does the milk for the HiPP Organic Milk Formula come from?
HiPP only receives milk from farms operating according to organic farming rules. The cows are kept under suitable conditions for their species and travel outdoors (on natural pastures) for more than 200 days a year. These pastures are cultivated without the use of mineral fertilizers or chemical and synthetic sprays. Made from grass, straw or grain, this natural animal feed guarantees the best organic quality that will become our nutritious, healthy milk. This makes organic milk so important to the HiPP Milk Formula.
When it comes to organic fruits, we only use organic methods instead of chemicals. Insecticides are strictly prohibited. Insect control is done naturally. We build nests for birds and use ladybugs, the enemy of insects. We use substances permitted in organic farming, such as natural plant extracts, to prevent fungal attacks on trees.
Our organic vegetables are grown naturally. Chemical and synthetic sprays are prohibited. Weeds are traditionally removed by machine or by hand. We protect beneficial organisms and keep harmful organisms at bay by using specific cultivation methods. For example, we plant species of plants that insects love on land edges. To prevent fungal disease in potatoes, we dust it with rock flour, which strengthens the plant and has a hydroscopic effect. We do not use artificial fertilizers. This is why our spinach harvest is less than normal and has very low nitrate values. Our carrots are grown in windy places. In this way, the wind keeps the planting rows clean. This is a natural way to prevent fungal attacks and insect infestations.
